Home Alone Program – Grade 5s
The Canadian Safety Council Home Alone program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. SchoolsPlus will be offering this program to our grade 5 students during class time, as part of the health curriculum.

Student Drop-Off   As a reminder, vehicles should not be entering the bus loop until after 8:00 since busses are arriving up until 8:00.  Prior to this time, you need to park at the bottom of the hill and either walk your child up or let them walk up on their own. We’ve noticed an increase in vehicles pulling into the bus loop and we need you to do your part – this guideline is for student safety!

HRES Yearbook  Yearbook orders are due by May 6.  Please see the attached flyer for more information on how to order:   HRES   Yearbook.docx

Student Lateness  At times, arriving late may be unavoidable but when possible, please try to have your child arrive by 8:00.   Being in class by the start of the instructional day ensures students aren’t missing out on important learning.

Important literacy and numeracy routines happens when the bell rings at 8:00  Every minute late means your child is missing out on key routines, structures and learning.  Being late by just 5 minutes/day is 25 minutes per week, which is 100 minutes in a month.  In 9 months, that is 900 minutes, which is 15 hours of learning time missed!

Tick Checks

Please be aware that tick season is upon us and we’ve had several staff and students with ticks.  You may want to check your children when they get home.
