What’s Happening at Holland Road Elementary– April 20, 2023

Theme Days for Autism Awareness Month - Next week is the last week of the month and we’ll celebrate by having the following theme days:
Magnificent Mind Monday – Autism is a neurological variation which means the brains of autistic people work differently than neurotypical people.  The world needs all kinds of minds! Celebrate the worlds amazing neurodiversity by wearing a fun hat or hair accessory.

Neurodiversity Tuesday – To celebrate the beauty in the diverse spectrum of the human mind, wear rainbow and/or tie-dye
clothes to school

What’s Your Passion Wednesday – One amazing characteristic of autism is to show a focused passion for topics of interest.  What are you passionate about? Dress to show something you love!

Autism Colour Day – Show your love to the Autism Community by wearing something RED!!

Sensory Friendly Friday – Autistic people often have a variety of sensory sensitivities.  Dress up today in your most comfy clothes….including your softest PJs.

Q-Mack NBA Entertainer:  Last week we had an assembly with our pre-primary to grade 5 students by Q-Mack and he entertained but he also had an engaging lesson about 7 character attributes, one for each letter in ALL STAR. 
Unfortunately, there was a little mix-up when he announced that every student would receive a mini poster, it should have been every class.  We did look at having them printed to avoid disappointment, but it’s too much with our limited budget.  Here’s a copy if you'd like to print at home:  QMackPosterHollandRoad.pdf 

Neptune Theatre Presentation:  Tomorrow morning (Friday) primary to grade 5 students will watch a performance by Neptune Tour Co.  called Birds of a Feather.  We’re looking forward to it!

PTA Meeting:  The next meeting will be Tuesday, April 25 at 6:00 and we will be continue planning for the Spring Fling, which is Friday, June 9 from 5:00-8:00.  Please come out and join us!
