What’s Happening at HRES – Sept. 19

Updating Student Information
You should have received an email today to update your child's information in the PowerSchool Parent Portal.  Please take a few minutes to update that information as soon as possible so that we have current and accurate information on file at school.  Make sure you check that all sections are correct and completed.

For any changes that might occur throughout the year, please email Sophie at sday@hrce.ca

September 25-29 is Truth and Reconciliation Week
Friday, September 29th we are encouraging students and staff to wear orange as we observe Truth and Reconcilation Day, which is on Saturday, September 30th.  (There is no school on Monday, October 2nd.)

These days are meant as days of reflection and further learning about residential schools and reconciliation.  Some classes will be learning about Truth and Reconciliation next week which will lead up to launch Mi’kmaq History Month - October 2023. The theme for this year is Mi’kmaw Traditional Games & Sports.

As Treaty People we must all find a path forward in reconciling our shared history.
Check here for more kid friendly information to learn about Orange Shirt Day.

Terry Fox Walk or Run
We will be having our annual Terry Fox Walk or Run on Friday, September 22 in the afternoon.  We are collecting donations for the Terry Fox Foundation and you can make a donation on behalf of Holland Road Elementary by clicking on the link:  https://terryfoxschoolrun.org/   (There’s no obligation to do so).
