What’s Happening at Holland Road Elementary School – November 23

Support for Christmas:  SchoolsPlus is here to support Holland Road families.  They can help you navigate getting Christmas support, such as toys and food, for your family. Please feel free to reach out if you require Christmas support through local agencies.  They can help you find the forms to apply for food/gift support, fill in the forms with you, and even pick up your Christmas hamper if needed.  It is confidential.

Your Holland Road SchoolsPlus Team is Steph Calberry (Assistant Leader) and Sarah Coleman (Community Outreach Worker).  Contact us at 902-225-2632 (call or text) or scalberry@hrce.ca

Student Progress Interviews:  The online booking site closes Wednesday, November 24 at 2:30pm.  Interviews will take place virtually or with a phone call on Thurs from 12:00 – 6:00.  You can schedule an appointment with your child’s classroom at http://www.parentinterviews.com/holland-road

A reminder that there is no school on Thursday.  Staff will be having professional development sessions in the morning, and then doing Student Progress Interviews in the afternoon.

Remembrance Day Virtual Assembly:  Our music teacher, Emily Ripley-Davis, prepared and organized our Remembrance Day Virtual Assembly.  The choir did a lovely job of singing Oh Canada and I Wish For Peace.  There were also a number of classes who prepared something, such as a singing a song, narrating a poem or showing artwork. It was very meaningful to have photos of loved ones who are currently or have been members of the CAF - thank you for sending them in.

Unfortunately, we were unable to share this presentation with you since we were missing too many Media Release Forms.

HRCE Text Messages:  We now have the ability to send information to you by text message. If you have already opted in – that’s great! You don’t have to read further.  If you haven’t (and would like to), here’s what you need to do:

If you did not receive the opt-in text message on November 16, please call your child’s school to update your contact information in PowerSchool.
If you decide you no longer wish to receive HRCE and school information via text, you can reply to the message with “STOP” or by clicking here.
Parents/guardians can opt-in at any time by texting “Y” or “YES” to 978338. The mobile number MUST also be in PowerSchool.
This text message function WILL include school cancellation notifications.
This text message function will NOT share bus delay information.

Breakfast Program:  The Breakfast Program has been up and running for the past several weeks.  Each classroom has a bin with fruit, granola bars and Nutrigrain bars.  WIthin the next week, we will be adding other items, such as dry cereal and trail mix.
