What’s Happening at Holland Road Elementary School – November 29

December is quickly approaching and we will be recognizing the Gift of Kindness at HRES. We’ll start things off with the Fall River Lion’s Club Food Drive.
In support of the Fall River Food Drive, HRES will be participating in “Can-struction” STEAM activities (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art or Math) on Dec. 9.
Between Dec 1-9, students can bring in non-perishable donations (in cans or boxes) and on “Can-struction” day, students will explore curriculum ideas using the donated items.  Some examples are:
• How many cans long is the classroom?
• How many cereal boxes tall is the wall?
• Which is heavier/lighter?
• Construct a structure with various items?
• Build a maze for Dash or Beebot (educational robot)
• Design a soup can label like Andy Warhol

Spirit Days:  To add to the excitement to December, we will be having Spirit Days every Friday:
Fri. Dec. 3 – Holiday Colours, wear colours that represent your holiday of choice such as Hannukah, Kwanzaa or Christmas
Fri. Dec 10 – Hat Day, wear a winter hat, ball cap, Santa hat or decorative headband
Fri. Dec. 17 – Festive Attire, wear whatever you consider festive – could be dressing-up in your finest clothes or a holiday article of clothing like PJs or a (ugly) Christmas sweater
