What's Happening @HRES - Oct. 27

What’s Happening at Holland Road Elementary– October 27, 2022

Grade 4 Families: Your child participated in the Grade 3 Provincial Assessments last year, and the results of those assessments were sent home today.  Keep in mind that this was just a snapshot of their learning last spring.  If you have any questions or concerns regarding the assessments, please reach out to your child’s teacher.

No school tomorrow: As a reminder, Friday October 28 is Provincial Conference Day and there is no school for students.

Halloween Information for Monday:

From the PTA  – Parents are invited to dress in costumes and line the driveway as busses arrive.  This will be followed by a costume parade, which students absolutely loved last year! They excitedly watched from the classroom windows and had so much fun.  Several PTA members will then visit classrooms with a cart of Halloween “fun” items.

Student costumes – Classroom teachers have sent emails to families to invite students to wear or bring a costume on Monday.  Check your child's teacher's email to see if they can wear a costume to school or if they should bring one and change into it at lunchtime.  This varies and is dependent on what is going on in the classroom for the day.  Costumes must be school appropriate and no weapons are permitted.  Please have them keep accessories at home.  Also face paint is okay, but no we're asking that students don't wear mask.

School Spirit Day:  PJ/Comfy Clothes Day on Tues. Nov. 1.

Student Safety: A few things have been brought to our attention and we want to ensure the safety of all.   There is a concern about how students and parents are crossing at the bottom of the driveway, as well as vehicles parking in the No Parking area (before the driveway).  We need to ensure that bus drivers have a clear view of any traffic and that people aren’t crossing where they could be in a drivers blind spot.

Holiday/Winter Concert:   Save the date for Thursday, December 15.  We will be having a morning and an afternoon concert so that all students will be performing on the same day.

Have a wonderful week-end and we look forward to lots of Halloween fun on Monday!!
