What’s Happening at Holland Road Elementary– October 19, 2022

Mi’kmaq History Month – October is Mi’kmaq History Month and students have been learning about our Mi’kmaq neighbours throughout the month.  For more information, click on the link:  https://mikmaqhistorymonth.ca/

Bus Evacuation - All students will take place in a Bus Evacuation Drill next week on Tuesday, October 25th.   We will have several busses here at school in the morning, and drivers will review safe bus procedures with students, and then practice exiting the bus through the rear door as they would in a potential emergency situation. 

Grade 3 Assessment Results-   In the spring, our grade 3 students participated in provincial assessments for math and literacy.  The results from these assessments will be sent home next week, on Wednesday, October 26.  If you have any questions about the report, please reach out to the classroom teacher.

PTA Poinsettia Fundraiser – Orders are due by October 24.  If you missed the email sent earlier, these can be ordered online through an electronic payment system.  If you haven't registered yet- click on the link:   http://hrce.schoolcashonline.com.  Make sure you add your child(ren).  Once you've registered, you can see the Poinsettia listed to purchase.  There are 3 beautiful colors to choose from (pink, red and white).   Each 6.5" Poinsettia plant is $12.

SAC Meeting –  The School Advisory Council (SAC) brings together teachers, parents and community members to promote student success. They provide the school community with an opportunity to influence decisions that impact student learning and well-being.    The HRES SAC should consist of 3 parents/guardians, 3 school staff members,  3 community members and the principal.  We are missing 2 community members, who are members of our school community and do not have children at the school.  Please let us know if there’s someone who might be interested.   Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, October 25 at 6:00 at the school and anyone is welcome to attend meetings as an observer.
