What’s Happening at Holland Road Elementary– December 5, 2022

Spirit Days:  To add to the excitement of December we will have Spirit Days on the following days:
Fri. Dec. 9 -  Holiday Colours, wear colours that represent your holiday of choice such as         
         Hannukah, Kwanzaa or Christmas
Fri. Dec 16 - Hat Day, wear a winter hat, ball cap, Santa hat or decorative headband
Fri. Dec. 20 - Festive Attire, wear whatever you consider festive – could be dressing-up in your                   
                        finest clothes or a holiday article of clothing like PJs or a (ugly) Christmas sweater

Food Drive:   We’d like to give back to the community and help those who need support.  This week we are collecting non-perishable food items for the Lion’s Christmas Express Food Drive, which will be picked up Friday morning.  If you’d like to make an online donation please click the link:  https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/fallriverexpress/

Scholastic Book Fair:   Exciting news  - from sales on Friday we made $300 for our library!

• The Virtual Book Fair Extension will be available online from Dec. 2 – Dec. 11.  
• With the Virtual Book Fair Extension there is no minimum order and no shipping costs, as all orders are shipped directly to the school!  
• Scholastic has told us that, while there are no guarantees, they will do their best to get all books ordered to the school before our holiday break. 

Community Input Requested:  The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development has launched a public engagement on strengthening local voice in our education system. This is a great opportunity to enhance our connection with communities and ensure we are putting students in the best position to be successful. PTA Meeting:  There is a PTA meeting tonight, Dec. 5, at 6:00 to discuss the Holiday Bazaar.

Concert Tickets:  Each family will be receiving 2 tickets for their child’s concert.  Due to fire regulations, the gym can only have a set number of people, but there will be an opportunity to request extra tickets -  stayed tuned!
